Previously, she served as an immigration attorney at a boutique law firm in Alexandria, Virginia, and as a legal intern for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Office of the Chief Counsel at the main office in Washington DC. In addition, Attorney Avellanet served in the past as legal advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, DC and for the legislative body of a Municipality in Puerto Rico, where she also had a private practice.
As an immigration attorney she has represented clients before court and before the USCIS and the U.S. Department of State, achieving permanent residences for clients who today feel safe in this country with their families. She always fought hard, achieving asylum status for her clients before the Asylum Office and the Immigration Court. In addition, she has represented clients in immigration courts obtaining other positive results such as reopening cases of people with deportation orders and obtaining administrative closings of proceedings, getting clients out of immigration court. In addition, the attorney has obtained for her clients work permits, travel documents and DACA and TPS renewals and initials.
The goal of Attorney Avellanet is to give hope to her clients, fighting for their rights to a better future in this country.
